The 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S belongs to the 992 generation, the eighth take on the most continuously developed sports car in history. Behind the rear axle sits a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six producing 443 hp at 6,500 rpm, driving the rear wheels through Porsche's lightning-fast 8-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox. 0–100 km/h takes 3.5 seconds with launch control, and it pulls all the way to 308 km/h.

The 992 wears the widebody stance once reserved for all-wheel-drive and GT models, planted on staggered 20- and 21-inch wheels.
